Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 September

FAVERSHAM HOP FESTIVAL

This popular, lively festival recalls the traditional celebrations associated with the hop harvest - when an army of hop pickers would leave London for a working holiday in Kent. As well as street entertainers, musical acts, dancers and vintage Shepherd Neame vehicles, there's a host of activities at the Brewery and in Shepherd Neame ubs throughout town.

Sunday 5 September

SPITFIRE HOP PICKERS STEAM TRAIN

Special trains will operate on Sunday 5 September as Britain's Oldest Brewer conjures up the atmosphere of the trains that once carried thousands of happy hop pickers from London to the Kentish countryside. Travel in style from London or take a local trip from Faversham behind steam

AUTUMN BEER AND FOOD EVENING

Take a guided evening tour, then savour a superb four-course seasonal “Beer Dinner”. Each course is matched by a specially-selected beer whose flavours complement the food.

Take a guided evening tour of Britain’s Oldest, and possibly most-haunted, Brewery.  See how Shepherd Neame’s award-winning ales and speciality lagers are brewed and discover a little of the strange sightings and unexplained happenings that have occurred on site.  Then savour a superb four-course “Beer Dinner” – freshly prepared with local ingredients. Take a look behind the scenes at Britain’s Oldest Brewer, enjoy a fascinating tutored tasting and then sample mulled beer and mince pies.  Mulled beer was a popular winter tipple in the 16th to 18th Centuries and this once-common winter warmer will be recreated using a traditional recipe.
